As negotiations with Colombian officials show unprecedented signs of progress, many challenges remain - not least the need for FARC forces to disarm and reintegrate in the coming months. Afghanistan, meanwhile, has witnessed the most peaceful transfer of power in its history, and a new unity government must now resolve rising economic difficulties amidst a mounting insurgency.
