Although many of 2014’s threats to peace and security remain, there is reason for hope as we head into a New Year.

Once the source of the Arab Spring, Tunisia now leads the way to peaceful democratic development in the region. As negotiations with Colombian officials show unprecedented signs of progress, many challenges remain - not least the need for FARC forces to disarm and reintegrate in the coming months. Afghanistan, meanwhile, has witnessed the most peaceful transfer of power in its history, and a new unity government must now resolve rising economic difficulties amidst a mounting insurgency.

With your support, Crisis Group will continue its work on the front lines of these situations and many others, providing in-depth analysis and advice to prevent and resolve deadly conflicts worldwide.
